Muddy Paws
Branding | Web Design
- Situation
As a young, philanthropic entrepreneur, the 13-year-old founder of Muddy Paws set out to support local rescue shelters by donating a portion of her profits from selling hand-made pet toys. Before long, her colorful bins of tug-toys became a fixture at local craft shows. Her parents saw the potential in her product and asked for branding and social media help.
- Strategy
After a brief survey of local competitors and some deep discussions of business objectives, Muddy Paws was positioned as the only handcrafted toy manufacturer with a philanthropic purpose. The founder’s warmth and compassion for animals were obvious key attributes, while social responsibility and generosity formed the heart of the brand message, embodied in the tagline “toys for a cause.”
- Solution
The fun and warmth of the brand are reflected in a bright, fresh color palette of cheerful orange and apple green. The logo features a muddy paw print centered in a hand-drawn heart as a nod to the handcrafted product, and a modified slab-serif font communicates a casual sense of youthfulness. The client—a budding photographer as a well as a business woman—provided warm, sunny images of local pets at rest and play. A style manual guided implementation of the new identity across an E-commerce website, business cards, social media channel branding.
